Mozambique Channel

The Mozambique Channel is a part of the Indian Ocean that lies between the island of Madagascar and southeast Africa, mainly the country of Mozambique. The strait covers roughly 460 kilometers across at its narrowest point between Angoche, Mozambique, and Tambohorano, Madagascar.

The Mozambique Channel

The channel's maximum depth is about 3,292 meters (10,800 feet). It flows in a southward direction in the channel, foremost into the Agulhas Current off the east coast of South Africa. It covers about 1000 miles (1600 kilometers) long and the width ranges from 250-600 miles (400-950 kilometers).
