Chesapeake Bay
The Chesapeake Bay is a part of Atlantic Ocean and is bounded by Maryland and Virginia. The Bay covers about 64,299 square miles 166,534 km2 and over 150 rivers and channels drain into the Bay.
The Bay measures around 200 miles (300 km) long, from the Susquehanna River (north) to the Atlantic Ocean (south).
Naming: The word Chesepiooc is an Algonquian word that refers to a village "at a big river." The name might refer something like 'Great Water,' or it might mean just a village at the bay's mouth."
