Underwater Lab, Mission Control – Training the Astronauts

A few meters away from the Key Largo Island, four U.S. astronauts prepare for a mission called NASA Extreme Environment Mission Operations (NEEMO), located 19 meters underneath the surface. This mission useful for taking the astronauts to the surface of an asteroid: by training in an underwater laboratory. The underwater lab called Aquarius of 37-square-meter; astronauts spend nine days in this lab. Living in the close quarter, and making jaunt into the surrounding ocean waters, the four astronauts simulate the daily routine of a crew that should travel for collecting rock samples orbiting the Earth. An underwater mission called NEEMO, which makes the astronaut practice spacewalks in the water; they will create a 10 minutes communications delay with mission control, learning the communication between the crew members and with Mission Control.
